A luxury Italian restaurant in Kuala Lumpur had no choice but to temporarily close its doors yesterday (1 November) following a blaze at its premises on the top floor of PETRONAS Tower 3.
Although no injuries or fatalities were reported, the restaurant sustained at least 30% damage from the fire, according to Sentul Fire Station Chief Mohd Hafizan Hassan. In an official statement issued yesterday, the renowned high-end restaurant Marini’s On 57 announced that it would be temporarily closed, effective immediately.

“Dear patrons, please be informed that Marini’s On 57 will be temporarily closed from 01 November. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.”
The 60-storey PETRONAS Tower 3, also known as Menara Carigali, is located adjacent to the PETRONAS Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur. The incident went viral yesterday morning after footage showing thick black smoke billowing from the building circulated on social media.
The fire was successfully extinguished by 8:45 AM.
Marini’s On 57, located on the 57th floor of PETRONAS Tower 3, began operations in 2012. Its founder has a long-standing history in Malaysia.

Cavaliere Modesto Marini, the founder and owner of The Marini’s Group, honed his culinary skills at one of Italy’s leading culinary schools, graduating with high honours.
He spent his early career at some of the most prestigious fine dining establishments in Italy, London, and Singapore before making Malaysia his home in 1995, according to the restaurant’s official website.
