With the full lockdown being extended until further notice, more & more Malaysians are being seriously impacted by the MCO and financial assistance is needed more than ever. While the Malaysian government continues to monitor the situation, they are also making sure that those who are affected by the pandemic get the support they need.

We know how difficult it must be to keep going despite all the uncertainties but we’re here to share how YOU can get the help you need this MCO:

Thanks to the newly announced PEMULIH package, all Malaysians can now get the support they need! From loan moratoriums and financial aids to the unemployed, the PEMULIH package covers it all. ❤️

While we are aware that there are existing financial aid packages, we may not know how to identify which ones we’re eligible for and what each package entails. The comprehensive PEMULIH package provides financial aid for all Malaysians whether they’re in the B40, M40 or T20 category.

Firstly, let’s take a look at what PEMULIH is all about:

What exactly is PEMULIH and how does it help citizens like myself?

As a response to the national lockdown measures, the Malaysian government introduced PEMULIH, also known as Pakej Perlindungan Rakyat dan Pemulihan Ekonomi. It is an economic stimulus package that will focus directly on benefitting people and businesses that have been impacted by the lockdown.

Here’s everything you need to know:

  • PEMULIH is the 8th stimulus package that has been introduced by the Malaysian government since March 2020
  • It also serves as a continuation of previous stimulus packages provided by the government
  • The overall aim of PEMULIH is to address the needs of Malaysians who are affected economically by the pandemic and the prolonged lockdown
  • The PEMULIH stimulus package involves a fiscal injection of RM10 billion and is worth RM150 billion

FYI, the assistance that’s given out under the PEMULIH package also covers the Phase 1 period of the recently launched Pelan Pemulihan Negara which includes four phases to enable the country to be free from the Covid-19 pandemic!

Oh, I see! What is the Pelan Pemulihan Negara actually?

As you may already know, our government introduced the Pelan Pemulihan Negara (PPN) as a roadmap for citizens and businesses to recover from the Covid-19 pandemic crisis that we are currently facing.

Currently, we are still in Phase 1 of the four phases of the PPN and in order to transition to Phase 2, there are three factors that we need to achieve:

  1. The number of daily Covid-19 cases recorded must dip below 4,000
  2. The rate of hospital bed usage in Covid-19 ICU wards are at a moderate level
  3. A total of 10% of the population has received two doses of the vaccine

While it’s definitely not impossible to achieve all 3 targets, we must make sure that we do our part in battling the pandemic! So make sure you comply with the SOPs and get vaccinated, ok?

Okay, but how can I check if I’m eligible for any of the financial aid packages given under the PEMULIH?

Well, it’s never been easier! All you have to do is head to the BELANJAWAN 2021 websiteAwesome, right?

Here’s a step-by-step tutorial on how you can check:

  1. Firstly, head to the website and choose between the three categories available (make sure you choose correctly as this will determine the financial assistance list!):
    • Individual & Household
    • Businesses & Employers
    • Community
  2. Once you’ve chosen the right category, you’ll be prompted to fill in the required personal information. The information required differs based on category!

3. After that, you’ll be able to choose which aspect you want to focus on and this will ultimately ensure that the assistance offered is tailor-made to your needs!

4. Finally, you’ll be able to see all the financial aid packages available that match the information you provided earlier. It’s really that simple!

We totally understand the feeling of not knowing what we are eligible for especially when there are so many different programmes available so we’re really glad that the Malaysian government has made it super simple for us to find out!

What other types of assistance are available to us under the PEMULIH package?

Now that you know how to check the financial assistance you’re eligible for, we hope it helps you in applying for the said assistance! Many of us may not be aware of just how much PEMULIH will help Malaysians who are suffering as a result of the ongoing pandemic.

Here, we have a look at a few other types of assistance provided under PEMULIH:

1. Additional RM10 billion in financial assistance for those who are affected

01 Fokus Pertama 03

  • The government has allocated an additional RM4.9 billion in Bantuan Prihatin Rakyat (BPR) payments under the PEMERKASA+ package which was distributed at the end of June 2021.
  • They also introduced Bantuan Khas Covid-19 (BKC) and allocated RM4.6 billion which is set to benefit 11.4 million recipients comprising of 8.4 million B40 recipients and 3 million M40 recipients
  • 1 million Malaysians who are facing unemployment due to the pandemic will receive RM500 in financial assistance from the government

2. Instant approval with no compounded interest and no penalty charge for those who apply for a loan moratorium

02 Fokus Kedua 11

A 6-month moratorium will be given to:

  • Individuals under the B40, M40 and T20 categories
  • Micro-enterprises
  • SMEs that have been affected*

Additionally, no documents or conditions are required to apply for the loan moratorium. All you have to do is apply at your respective banks and sign an agreement to amend the relevant loan terms (if needed)!

*This is subject to bank review and approval

3. Reintroducing Program Subsidi Upah 4.0 with added benefits

02 Fokus Kedua 02

Since the government introduced the Program Subsidi Upah in 2020, they have spent more than RM15 billion to help employers pay salaries of about 2.7 million workers.

With such a positive response, the Malaysian government has decided to reintroduce Program Supsidi Upah 4.0:

  • The government will accommodate 500 employees for each employer at a rate of RM600 for 2 months and an additional 2 months for sectors in the Phase 3 negative list
  • There will no longer be a salary limit of RM4,000 which means employers can apply for PSU 4.0 for employees who are earning more than RM4,000 a month.

With an allocation of RM3.8 billion, the Program Subsidi Upah is set to benefit over 2.5 million workers!

Wow!

We’re so thankful that every industry gets a chance at this financial aid from the government! Obviously, this is not the full list of financial assistance available under the PEMULIH package. To view the full list and check your eligibility, visit their website here!

During this pandemic, it’s difficult for us to see the light at the end of the tunnel and we’re pretty sure that any kind of financial aid given to us will help tremendously.
