Making coffee is definitely a daily occurrence for some of us. For coffee addicts, our day starts only when we have a cup of hot coffee in our hands.

While some people prefer to use instant coffee many prefer to make it fresh through the use of coffee grounds, especially now that we are spoiled by the huge options of coffee makers in the market. But the hard part is when you have to clean the goopy, crumbly mess!

Recently, the owner of a home cafe named Putéh located in Seksyen 17, Shah Alam has shared some tips on how to reuse your coffee grounds when you’re done with them!

In the thread that has since gone viral, Hanif, the cafe owner has shared three tips on reusing coffee grounds and they are as follows:

1. Turn your used coffee grounds into fertiliser for your green babies

For the plant parents out there, you can turn your used coffee grounds into fertiliser. Used grounds contain minerals to help your plants grow which are nitrogen, calcium, potassium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium and chromium.

You can just put the used grounds on the soil, however, don’t put too much as it will turn the soil acidic. If that happens, you can crush some eggshells to correct that.

2. Coffee can absorb bad smell while also filling up your room with the smell of coffee

There are certainly days where even after you have washed and cleaned everything in your house, there is still some kind of smell lingering around. In order to combat that, you can put your used coffee ground into a container and place it in the affected area so that it can absorb the bad smell while also filling up your room with the smell of coffee.

You can also do the same for your fridge and car. However, do make sure that your grounds are dry as you do not want things to start growing there! Also, be sure to clean the fridge/car first for maximum effect.

3. Put used grounds on your sink and wash it

Just like your skin, your sink also needs to be scrubbed and exfoliated. Sometimes, there may be things growing at the corner and at the side of your sink and it is imperative for you to wash it for the sake of hygiene.

Just put some of your used grounds there, wet a cloth and start scrubbing it.

4. Use coffee to exfoliate your skin or your cellulite areas

This little tip was not shared by Hanif but rather by the writer as I had used this little tip before. You can save your grounds in a jar and use it to exfoliate your skin or your cellulite areas. It really helps with removing dead skin cells and the coffee smell really lifts your mood!

Hanif has said that he has tried and tested the tips that he shared and it worked really well for him.

The cafe owner added that if you want to, you can go to any nearby cafes and ask for their grounds.

Just bring a container there and ask them for their used grounds, some of them will give the grounds to you free of charge!

Well, there you have it. These are certainly nifty ways to reuse coffee grounds. Do you have any other hacks about reusing? We would love to hear them! Please let us know in the comments.
