Different people celebrate their birthdays differently, and this Singaporean man’s birthday celebration idea was inspiring to us.

To celebrate his birthday, Mr Chua decided to belanja 36 elderly cardboard collectors to a lovely meal. In collaboration with Happy People Helping People Community — a non-profit foundation set out to help people who are in need – Mr Chua managed to organise his celebration at a restaurant called 73 Hillcrest at Bukit Timah.

A few volunteers joined Mr Chua by helping him make the elderly guests feel even more special on this occasion. He not only treated them to a meal, he also gave out red packets to them!

Looking at these photos just made our hearts melt!

The oldest of the guests was a 94-year-old woman, according to mothership.sg. Imagine being 94 years old and still had to go out onto the streets to collect cardboards for a living. We really hope she will get more support.

According to Happy People Helping People’s Facebook post, one of the cardboard collectors from Bedok – Ms Koh – was so delighted that she teared up. She expressed that with the money she received, she could afford diapers for herself and her foster mother who is old and sickly.

Mr Chua’s celebration was indeed inspiring, and he reminded us that making other people happy is an awesome move and we should totally learn from him!
