No matter how difficult our lives may be, at times we need to look beyond ourselves to see that there are so many reasons we should be thankful.
Most of us have experienced wearing old clothes handed down to us by our elder siblings. Although it’s a great move to save money, an Ustaz, Mohd Nasir, was saddened by what he witnessed in the school he is teaching in Sungai Petani.
He saw a standard three boy, dragging his shoes while walking, with one hand trying to keep his pants from falling. He said, as reported by Mstar,
“I asked him why was he walking like that. He told me that he couldn’t walk properly because his shoes were too big for him. I could fit three fingers in the space in his shoes.”

Ustaz Nasir elaborated that his pants were also too big and worn out. The boy was wearing his brother’s pants, who was standard six student in that school last year.
The Ustaz immediately went to the headmaster’s office to seek permission to bring the boy out to purchase new school clothes for the boy. They went to Kepala Batas to do some shopping as soon as the headmaster gave him the green light.
According to Ustaz Nasir, we need to take action in incidents like this with a growing child, he might be shy of his appearance and might choose not to go to school which will ruin his future.
Ustaz Nasir uploaded his journey on his Facebook account as a reminder to everyone to always try and help anyone, no matter how small the deed. He also mentioned that he is considering adopting the boy so that he can ensure that he has a bright future ahead of him.
Every bit of help matters and sometimes those who really need our help might not even realize that they are in need of our assistance. So let’s be more attentive towards the people around us, shall we?
