Even though the Ministry of Health is keen on closing the case on the quarantine breach by Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, Malaysians are still not over what they feel – a blatant injustice.

Despite the minister’s apologies and salary donation, Malaysians are demanding a harsher punishment over the double standards. In a press conference on 25 August, Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah was questioned about the RM1,000 compound towards the minister.

Dr Noor Hisham replied that the top management of the Health Ministry was “kept in the dark” over the quarantine breach and RM1,000 compound controversy involving a Cabinet minister until last week.

“We were only informed last week. The first thing we did was to launch an internal investigation. It’s very important for the frontliners on the ground to inform the superiors,” he said.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham added that matter should be left to the police now, as investigation commences, reported Astro Awani. He reassured that the police will hopefully conduct a thorough investigation and release their report soon.
