Last week, Malaysians were shocked after hearing of the terrible incident involving a primary school teacher from Port Dickson punishing an eight-year-old schoolboy by holding a heated metal sharpener against his face, burning the child’s cheek.

The enraged father of the child, Mohamad Fikri Said, lodged a police report against the teacher and held a press conference over the issue.

The father, Said Sudu, said that “he will not rest until the case is settled.” A recent post about the case on Facebook has shed some light on the latest updates of the case. Fikri’s parents went to meet the school’s headmistress to discuss the abuse that their child was subjected to.

A video was recorded during the meeting, showing the headmistress clearly siding with the teacher who abused the child.

The video begins with the teachers asking the father, “How about if we give you compensation instead?”

The father protested loudly and said, “No, no, I don’t want any compensation. I don’t need a single sen from you.”

The teachers quickly explained that they meant compensation for the boy’s medical fees, which was quickly rejected by Said. After that, the teachers tried to appeal to the parents, asking them to drop the case against the teacher.

Their excuse was, “Take a little pity on the teacher. He’s still young. If you continue to press charges, then he will have no future.”

Furious, Said then asked them in return, “If I take pity on the teacher, who’s going to take pity on my son? He could abuse a little kid like that.”

Ask him what would he do if the child was his son. Would he let it go so easily? Plus, I saw him downstairs just now and the first thing he said when he saw me was not even an apology, but he asked me to drop the case.”

The headmistress and other teachers then continued to plead on the teacher’s behalf while the father said he might consider transferring his son to another school.

There is a big difference between disciplining a student and abusing them. As a teacher, he should have known this. We hope appropriate action will be taken against this teacher soon!
