The Majlis Perbandaran Kota Bharu-Bandar Raya Islam (MPKB-BRI) or Kota Bharu Municipal Council has ordered all business premises within the Kelantan Capital City to shut down today for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

In a circular by MPKB-BRI which has since gone viral on the internet, the order extends to all business premises, hypermarkets, supermarkets, convenience stores and restaurants within the jurisdiction of the municipal council.

Furthermore, the circular also reminded business owners to adhere to the order and shut down all of their premises on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri today.

MPKB-BRI then stressed that any business owners that fail to follow the directive will face action from the municipal council.

The circular reads,

“The municipal council will not hesitate to take action of up to RM1,000 compound. Besides that, those that fail to adhere to this directive face charges that may amount to up to 1-year jail or both if found guilty.

“The municipal council may also cancel your license and take any other available legal action.”
