A local YouTuber and 11 others were detained after being involved in a fight at a futsal court in Taman Perindustrian Subang. A victim also suffered severe injuries on his face and body after being beaten up by the suspects.
According to Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Abd Khalid Othman, the individuals were detained at about 1am on Sunday (7 March) in two raids in the Klang Valley, reported Harian Metro.
A video of the incident has since gone viral on social media showing a group of men in the midst of a brawl.
“A YouTuber who was involved in the incident was among those detained to assist in investigations,” ACP Abd Khalid said, adding that the suspects will be remanded.
He added that the accident happened due to a misunderstanding during the futsal match when a 19-year-old youth hard tackled a 22-year-old man.
“A scuffle ensued between the two teams but a 29-year-old man tried to intervene and stop the fight but to no avail,” he said.
“He was then beaten up by 10 individuals.”
Meanwhile, another report by Kosmo reported that netizens have been criticising the YouTuber for his actions as it did not reflect the persona he portrays on social media.
One netizen shared that he perceived the YouTuber as a good person as he often makes videos of himself helping the less fortunate.
“All this time, I thought it was good of him to make content about helping people, giving to charity here and there. Hypocrite,” he said.
