Since the transition into endemicity, Malaysia has seen a boost in tourism, not just with the increase in foreign tourists but also in the entertainment industry, where some places in Malaysia are chosen for the filming locations of foreign films.

Hong Kong actor Philip Keung posted on his Instagram @black_gorgor this evening (December 12) and said goodbye to Malaysia after spending 1 month here to promote his latest movie, The Locksmith, in which he stars as the lead. The Locksmith is a Hong Kong film but a majority of the movie was shot in Malaysia, especially Penang.

“I gain a lot every time I come here”

Philip, who has a house in Penang has always made it clear that the country is his 2nd home, and earlier this year, he said that he is expecting to celebrate CNY 2024 in Penang again.

In his IG post, Philip said the past month has been tiring for him and the crew as they had spent a lot of time promoting The Locksmith in some states in Malaysia, including KL, Selangor, Sabah, Johor Bahru, and Penang. Philip, however, is not complaining at all.

“Everything is worth it. It has been a happy and productive month, and I gain a lot every time I come here. Thank you, Malaysian fans.”

Last week, Philip also shared an image of him enjoying a hearty bowl of Assam Laksa in Penang.

Philip is not the only foreign celebrity who enjoys being in Malaysia. Earlier this month, Hong Kong veteran actor Simon Yam visited KL for a promotional event and said that coming to Malaysia is like coming home, thanks to the good food and friendly people.

Philip also hinted in his post that he will see Malaysian fans very soon. With CNY 2024 only 2 months away, we’re sure Philip is set to return to Malaysia in no time!
