This will certainly make a lot of folks rejoice! Who doesn’t love free money?!
Well, starting Jan 12, the government will be distributing RM100 to students throughout the nation. This specific program is known as the Schooling Assistance (Bantuan Khas Awal Persekolahan 1 Malaysia) and do note that only students who fit the requirement are eligible for the RM100 assistance.
This program is catered towards students from the low-income households, with the intention to reduce the burdens of families in the back-to-school season. This is set in Budget 2018, with an allocation of RM328 million, aiming to benefit 3.2 million students.

The government will be giving out the grants to schools nationwide starting Jan 12. Once the grant is received, schools are required to distribute the Schooling Assistance to the eligible students within 14 days. If the grant received is insufficient, schools are able apply for additional grants from the State Department of Education before 31 March.
The Ministry of Education also stated that schools are not allowed to use the funding for own expenses, and that the grant is solely for parents and students in need.

Students that are eligible for the assistance will be selected by their respective schools based on the income statements given by parents. Only those with an income of RM3,000 or lower are entitled for the RM100 Schooling Assistance.
At least these kids are getting the aid that they need!
