If you watched the FIFA World Cup final last night, you’d know that it was most probably the best FIFA final ever, with a total of 6 goals scored during the match!
Although the game is over, it doesn’t mean you have to stop talking about all the incredible moments that happened during the match. Some Twitter comedians are pulling out all their best jokes and references to relive those moments and we’ve compiled some for you!
Mbappé’s hat-trick
Referring to Kylian Mbappé’s impressive performance, netizens expressed their frustration at how even his hat-trick could not win France the World Cup title.
“Mbappé single-handedly getting France to a penalty shootout against Argentina for the rest of the team to mess it up. I’d be FUMING.”
FIFA, a tv series
In another tweet, the netizen seems to have just discovered how entertaining football is and asked where she can watch the “program” from Season 1 (as you would a TV show that you like).
France’s comeback
As a jab to the French team’s late comeback to tie the score 2-2 with Argentina, one netizen stated, “This game has showed me that men will only fight for something when it’s almost too late.”
Where’s the lie?!
K-pop fans compare
Finally, K-pop fans, who are generally very active in their fandoms on Twitter chimed in on the match with tweets that compare the match with Korean award shows.
“Not FIFA having a Golden Maknae Award (Golden “The Youngest” Award),” said one netizen, referring to Argentina’s Enzo Fernandez who won the “Young Player” award. “Maknae” is often used to refer to the youngest member of a K-pop group.
Another netizen commented, “Oh, they are giving out the daesangs (awards) #MessiSweep,” as they compared the football players receiving their awards last night to K-pop idols receiving their awards at a Korean award show.
Finally, for leading Argentina to the title and winning the Golden Ball award, Lionel Messi became the MVP of the night. Or in K-pop terms, the “It boy”.
Hope you enjoyed the match and the tweets because we know we did!
