Long after the pandemic lockdowns, it looks like the Covid-19 virus is slowly making its presence known again with cases increasing in Malaysia.

In a press conference by the Ministry of Health (MOH) at 4pm today (December 18), Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad shared that Covid-19 cases have increased by 62%, that there are currently 151 cases in the ICU and 28 deaths so far.

He also explained MOH’s 5 preparedness strategies in the face of increasing covid-19 cases.

Here are KKM’s 5 strategies:

Covid 6 1

  • Heightened Alert System (HAS)

  • Community empowerment through effective risk communication
  • Digitization of the health care system – MySejahtera

Covid 5

He also highly recommended that the general public take the following precautions:

Covid 4

  • Maintaining hygiene – washing hands with soap
  • Avoiding crowded spaces
  • Practicing social distancing
  • Wearing face masks in enclosed public places
  • Resting at home should you show signs of Covid-19 symptoms
  • Seeking medical assistance should you experience severe symptoms
