Former Religious Affairs Minister and Mufti of the Federal Territories, Dato’ Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, has announced the creation of 2 artificial intelligence (AI) religious preachers for Malaysian audiences.
Taking to his X page, he introduced AIDr. Munir and AIDr. Munirah, a male and female AI religious preacher duo.
He wrote, “With great gratitude, I would like to introduce 2 new digital characters who have now joined Maktabah Al-Bakri as Shariah Smart Officers (PPS): AIDr. Munir and AIDr. Munirah.”
“Both are artificial intelligence (AI) models that were ‘birthed’ as a result of the collaboration between ChatGPT Plus (developed by OpenAI) and Hedra Studio, which functions as a ‘custom persona developer’ with a local touch, and is definitely Shariah-compliant.”
Both characters are programmed to share Islamic knowledge based on Dato’ Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri’s stance on the religion, and can formulate answers to more than 9,000 questions related to current law, contemporary fatwas and community fiqh issues.
“Don’t worry, because they have been programmed to be social media friendly. Their answers are also based on my stance on issues in religious affairs,” said the Islamic scholar.

He also announced that the first episode featuring one of the AI characters, AIDr. Munirah, has already been uploaded to his digital library, Maktabah Al-Bakri’s TikTok page.
