A 16-year-old student in Sungai Petani, Kedah, suffered internal bleeding in his eye after being punched by another student at school on Monday (July 21).
He was also beaten to the point of suffering a headache, vomitting and swelling in his eyes, while in the presence of a female trainee teacher in the classroom.
As a result of the incident, the victim’s relatives were said to have been called to the school to pick him up for treatment. Further examination revealed that the victim had internal bleeding in the eye, suspected to be caused by the punches to his face.

The victim’s 53-year-old father, who owns a motorcycle repair shop, said that he immediately closed his store and rushed to the school to pick up his son to bring him to the hospital for treatment. According to the doctor, the teenager suffered a concussion and was given an injection before being told to rest, as he needed to stay in the hospital for 6 hours for further observation.

The victim was minding his business until somebody else allegedly interfered
According to the father, he was told by the school that the victim was reading before the dispute took place, which involved 3 to 4 students. The victim tried to avoid the small group, but was continuously harassed, and one of the students was said to have snatched his book.
The victim and the other students got into a fight, where he was surrounded and punched in the eye. The physical dispute stopped when the victim fainted.
The parents of the students involved requested to settle the matter and didn’t want to pursue the case. The victim’s father, however, has lodged a police report as he believed the matter was too severe.

The victim’s younger sister, who studies at the same school, also revealed that her brother had always been a victim of bullying. The bullies would even take off her brother’s pants at times.
“My brother is quiet and doesn’t like to cause troubles. I think the bullies took advantage of that, knowing that he wouldn’t resist.”
Meanwhile, Kuala Muda District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Hanyan Ramlan, confirmed receiving a report regarding the incident. The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for intentionally causing injury, as reported by China Press and Sinar Harian.
