Malaysians have always been a generous bunch, with many doing everything they can to help the homeless and beggars who rely on small donations from the public.
But, no one expected that beggars can earn up to thousands.
Sepang Viral shared a post that showcased a beggar in Seremban who allegedly managed to earn up to RM2,300.
“It pays to be a beggar. A public servant’s salary would lose.”
It is believed that the beggar is a foreigner.
“She’s a foreigner dressed in a head scarf, disguised as a Muslim. When asked to recite a prayer, she just shook her head. Asked if she’s a Muslim, she shook her head again. And she earns up to RM2,300 a day,”
“She even has a note book to keep track of her income in 2021 and 2022,” they added.
Though, it is understood that the RM2,300 may not be her income for the day. It could be the accumulated amount over her overall time as a beggar.
There is also a theory that the figure shown in the note book is RM23.00 and not RM2,300.
On top of that, the woman allegedly also travels to Seremban on a daily basis to beg.
“This woman is willing to get a e-hailing ride from Sungai Buloh to Seremban. It appears that Seremban residents are very generous. Yes, Malaysians are generous,” they shared.
Netizens have since expressed mixed feelings over the beggar, with some who believe the woman may be part of a syndicate and others urging people not to judge her so harshly.
“Need to check on the child, who knows they are not sleeping, but drugged so that they stay asleep while she is begging. Who know, they might not even be her child. Which child sits quietly? If they get hungry, wouldn’t she want them to be crying and asking for food, not asleep the whole time?”
“I think this is a syndicate, due to the slow law enforcement on this issue.”
“The most important part is the intention to donate. If she’s lying, that’s between her and Allah.”
“To those who want to donate, donate. She is not forcing anyone.”
What do you think?
Should people donate to foreign beggars? Should she have not lied about her religious beliefs? Should there be better infrastructures set in place to help foreigners and refugees?
