It took the team less than five minutes to arrive, and efforts to extinguish the blaze were already underway when they got there. The fire was completely put out shortly afterwards.

Black smoke was seen billowing from the cinema during the incident. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.

In an official statement this afternoon, GSC said that screenings at GSC IOI City Mall 2 (East) had to be cancelled as a safety precaution. GSC also assured the public that there was no fire in the cinema halls and that none of them sustained structural damage.

However, as of 3:30 PM, GSC shared good news: the cinema at IOI City Mall 2 has reopened, and all screenings for today will proceed as usual. If you have plans to catch a movie at the location, you may proceed as normal.
