GSC Cinemas at IOI Putrajaya caught fire today (20 September), forcing the outlet to close temporarily.
According to a report by NST, the fire broke out in the kitchen, and the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department received a report about the incident at 10 AM. A fire engine, an emergency medical rescue service vehicle, and seven personnel were dispatched to the scene.

It took the team less than five minutes to arrive, and efforts to extinguish the blaze were already underway when they got there. The fire was completely put out shortly afterwards.
Black smoke was seen billowing from the cinema during the incident. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
All screenings for today were cancelled due to safety concerns

In an official statement this afternoon, GSC said that screenings at GSC IOI City Mall 2 (East) had to be cancelled as a safety precaution. GSC also assured the public that there was no fire in the cinema halls and that none of them sustained structural damage.
However, as of 3:30 PM, GSC shared good news: the cinema at IOI City Mall 2 has reopened, and all screenings for today will proceed as usual. If you have plans to catch a movie at the location, you may proceed as normal.
