Scalpers are truly a HUGE problem every time there is a concert in Malaysia. They always end up buying more tickets than most and resell them for skyrocketing prices, taking advantage of major fans who didn’t manage to get their own tickets.
Following the sales of the much anticipated Coldplay Music Of The Spheres World Tour that will take place at Stadium Bukit Jalil in November 22 (Wednesday), some scalpers have scaled ticket prices to up to RM43,000.
Considering the (well-deserved) outrage these scalpers have caused among the public (considering how unfair it is that they managed to buy SO MANY tickets only to resell them), the Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has since vowed to take action accordingly.
Responding to a netizen’s post, he wrote, “This is too much, this ticketing issue is under the Minister of Domestic Trade and Living Costs (Salahuddin Ayub). InsyaAllah, I will bring this up with the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Living Costs.”
In the meantime, though desperate for tickets (just like us!), fans have been advised against buying tickets from scalpers
“We would like to caution members of the public against purchasing tickets from unauthorized sellers or 3rd party websites such as Viagogo, Carousel, or other similar platforms.”
“By purchasing tickets through these non-authorized points of sale, buyers take on the risk that the validity of the tickets cannot be guaranteed, with no refunds possible. We shall not be held responsible for any such purchases through unauthorized channels,” Live Nation Malaysia wrote.
Let’s just hope that Coldplay decides to play a second day in Malaysia.
