The search for the sinkhole victim, Vijayaletchumi goes on. The minister of communication, Fahmi Fadzil assured Malaysians today that the search will not stop, even on National Day (August 31).
“The authorities will continue to search for the missing victim until she is found.”
Fahmi, who visited the Indah Water Disposal Plant (IWK) in Pantai Dalam today to observe the work progress also told the media that he is convinced that the 48-year-old Vijayaletchumi can be found.
This is because the water flow from the sinkhole in Masjid India will flow directly to its endpoint here – the sewage pool in IWK Pantai Dalam – and nowhere further.
“There’s a physical screen here that separates excrement from liquids, and nothing can get past that sewage pool.”
The distance between the sinkhole in Masjid India to the IWK sewage pool in Pantai Dalam is roughly 7 KM.
As of this morning (August 27), there have been no leads as to where the victim is, and DBKL has started using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) in an attempt to search for the victim.
Vijayaletchumi’s family members, on the other hand, have accepted the fate but are still hoping to see the victim for one last time.
We sincerely thank the authorities for their continuous efforts in looking for the victim, day and night, and hopefully, the search will end soon.
