The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) will tighten the entry requirements for foreign artists to perform concerts in Malaysia.

Minister Fahmi Fadzil shared that this will include a re-examining guarantees from the organisers for foreign artists and their performances here.

According to a report by Buletin TV3, KKD will work with the Committee for Foreign Films and Performances of Foreign Artists (JK-PUSPAL) to conduct research and screenings in terms of artists’ behaviour so that incidents like what happened during British rock band, The 1975’s, do not happen again.

“I have asked the Chairman of the PUSPAL Committee to re-examine all existing processes regarding PUSPAL including screenings as requested by the Ministry of Home Affairs,” Fahmi shared.

He also informed that the application period for the entre of foreign artists will also be reviewed to make it easier for the organising company to make preparations in a more orderly manner.

Earlier, it was reported that the government had ordered the immediate cancellation of the Good Vibes Festival 2023 which was supposed to take place from Friday (July 21) to Sunday (July 23)

The organisers of the event has also since been urged to identify a compensation mechanism for ticket buyers who booked to attend the concerts at the festival.
