Common knowledge that is specific to us Malaysians may not be something common in a South Korean person’s life.
This is demonstrated during an episode of a reality show called Battle Trip that is produced by KBS.
In a video recommended on YouTube, we saw that 2 South Korean actors by the name of Ryu Seung Soo and Kim Ho Young had recently travelled to Malaysia from Singapore.
Their choice of transport was a taxi and they were amazed that by just using a taxi, they were able to cross countries, the driver even helped them with the immigration process!
The fee was 90 SGD (around RM300) and the 2 of them were able to travel comfortably in the car. They also mentioned that there were 3 ways for people to go to Malaysia from Singapore, it’s either by train, bus or taxi.
In the end, they chose the taxi because it was more convenient even though it was expensive compared to the other options.
When they reached the checkpoint, they were surprised to see so many motorbikes crossing the border. One of them explained that those who commute between the 2 countries would usually use a motorbike.
After reaching Johor Bahru, both the actors said that they experienced something new.
“Isn’t it a rare and precious experience that we went through an inspection in a taxi?” Kim Ho Young exclaimed.
“It was so cool, they opened my bags in airports before but never in the streets,” replied Ryu Seung Soo
Other hosts on the show also said that they never knew this information before even though they went to Singapore many times.
It took them more than an hour to finally reach their hotel in Johor and that marks the end of their journey with the taxi driver.
Many Malaysians have commented on the clip and said that we can actually access many countries via the land/sea borders.

All in all, we’re so happy that these actors chose to showcase different modes of transport that can be used by tourists to come to Malaysia. We hope that they enjoyed their stay while they were here.
