What about the essential workers living in Putrajaya?
The Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd will suspend all of its train services starting tomorrow (4 June) until further notice due to the implementation of the FMCO. In a statement yesterday (2 June), ERL said that the decision was made following negotiations with the Ministry of Transport and the Land Public Transport Agency.
“Therefore, to ensure that ERL is able to continue its services to all its customers once the MCO is terminated and remain financially sustainable, the company regrets having to temporarily suspend its services until further notice.”
Astro Awani reported that the average daily ERL user declined by 69% in 2020 compared to 2019 as there was almost no air travel and the number of users of the train service was limited. Those who have to travel due to important matters during the MCO 3.0 period were advised to take alternative measures for their transportation.
Many Malaysians took to social media to call out KLIA and asked why did they even shut down in the first place considering there were still essential service workers travelling from Putrajaya. They even begged KLIA to reconsider their decision as this would affect many working Malaysians.
“The problem at Malaysia regarding public transport has been the same since last time. They never think about the people who still need to go to work on public transport. Do they like to troble people?”
“How is ERL not an essential service? People use it every day!”
“Stop operating an actual essential service during lowckdown..whose bright idea is this?”
Let us know what you think about the closure of this service!
