“Live every day with a smile”

According to the eulogy read out by the female emcee, the deceased was a big fan of sports, liked playing badminton and dancing, and was an energetic girl who loved to laugh.

The tragic loss of Yap Shing Xuen

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, also paid a visit to the wake this morning to pay her final respects, before placing a Team MAS jersey on Shing Xuen’s resting place to honour her.

In a recent press conference, Shing Xuen’s mother clarified that the 14-year-old suspect had never confessed to her daughter, who did not know him personally. The mother also said that she was told by the police that Shing Xuen’s body had 200 stab wounds, in which the suspect attacked her with two knives that were purchased online.

The suspect is currently in police custody, and the matter is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
