As of 11 AM today (20 October), Yap Shing Xuen’s body was sent to Shah Alam to be cremated, and over 200 relatives, friends, and teachers attended her wake at the Nirvana Memorial Centre in Kuala Lumpur to pay their final respects.
While Malaysians continue to grieve the death of the victim, her parents have a message to everyone.

The family hopes that Shing Xuen’s last goodbye will end the hatred and continue the love and kindness.
“Live every day with a smile”
According to the eulogy read out by the female emcee, the deceased was a big fan of sports, liked playing badminton and dancing, and was an energetic girl who loved to laugh.
She pointed out that the deceased was a girl who brought light to everyone’s life, and her family hoped that today’s farewell would not be a continuation of sadness and anger, but a continuation of love, blessings, and kindness.

“Although Shing Xuen led a short life, she also taught everyone to live every day with a smile.”
In a report by China Press, a teacher from Shing Xuen’s school, and more than 30 classmates said their final goodbyes to the deceased, followed by a chanting ceremony and a closing ceremony.

The tragic loss of Yap Shing Xuen
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh, also paid a visit to the wake this morning to pay her final respects, before placing a Team MAS jersey on Shing Xuen’s resting place to honour her.
In a recent press conference, Shing Xuen’s mother clarified that the 14-year-old suspect had never confessed to her daughter, who did not know him personally. The mother also said that she was told by the police that Shing Xuen’s body had 200 stab wounds, in which the suspect attacked her with two knives that were purchased online.
The suspect is currently in police custody, and the matter is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
