It’s common knowledge that Malaysia and Israel have no diplomatic relationship, causing citizens from both countries to be unable to visit each other’s country.
But, what happens when Israeli nationals are forced to enter Malaysia?
According to a report by The Jerusalem Post, Emirates flight 354 heading to Singapore from Dubai was forced to conduct an emergency landing at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) due to severe bad weather on Wednesday (September 6). And on this flight, there were 12 Israeli passengers.
Hearing of the incident, the Foreign Ministry of Israel were apparently in touch with the airline in an effort to keep the Israeli passengers safe during their time in Malaysia.
“The Foreign Ministry will continue to act in the best interests of the Israeli citizens in exceptional cases like this,” shared Eli Cohen, Foreign Minister.
While it has been said that the Israeli passengers were not allowed to deplane, it turns out that all passengers were not required to leave the plane during the 5 hour duration that they were here before once again departing for Singapore.
