The Malaysian durian season is upon us yet again, and it is that time again to begin our search for the best bargains in town – just be mindful that we are still currently under Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) ok?
Understanding the influx of durians in the country, FAMA or the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority has released a series of posters to help durian aficionados nationwide be it seasoned pros or amateurs, ways on finding the best durian if you are being put in the spotlight to choose the best fruit for your picking.
Taking to Facebook, Pencerahan shared the tips FAMA had through a series of posters.
“The first step that you should take is to shake the fruit. A ripe durian should be able to shake inside the husk.”
“Secondly, smell the fruit. A ripe durian will emit a strong aroma.”
“Tap the fruit. A ripe durian should sound hollow when tapped.”
“Touch the thorns. A ripe durian should have ‘softer’ thorns.”
In fear of being cheated by irresponsible vendors, we feel that the poster is timely to ensure that people understand what they go through when they purchase the fruit.
