Not all movies are meant for those under 18, especially the kids, and as parents, you should know NOT to be the “cool parents” by breaking the rules and sneaking into the cinema hall.
Just recently, a kid in KL got scared the living daylight out of him after his parents brought him to the Evil Dead Rise movie. The matter went viral on social media since then, and GSC Cinemas immediately sent a stern reminder to all Malaysians via a Facebook post last night (April 28).
“Don’t bring the kids in, crazy!”
GSC said the cinema ushers have reminded (and always will) the visitors that Evil Dead Rise is meant for audiences aged 18 and above, and under no circumstances children are allowed to enter the movie hall.
The Film Censorship Board (LPF) has restricted the movie to those under 18. All cinemas in Malaysia also reminded its patrons about the age restriction for Evil Dead Rise, as early as during the ticket purchase.
In the ticketing applications, any movies not meant for those under 18 will be specified. If you buy your tickets at the counter, you will also notice a list of movies that have been limited to those 18 and above. Long story short, there is no excuse for you to overlook the age restrictions for a movie.
If you insist on bringing your children to the cinema, here’s what GSC suggested you do.
“Bring your kids to Super Mario Bros.”
In response to the cinema ushers allegedly not carrying out their duties, GSC assured that the ushers have always ensured that kids will not be granted entrance to restricted movies. Unfortunately, some parents are stubborn enough to sneak in and tend to cause chaos if they’re not allowed to enter.
This is where GSC needs your help, as an adult.
“We’re not finding excuses, but the audience have to be self-aware. The movie is obviously for 18 and above. Reminders are everywhere, and it’s impossible for you to oversee.”
Sebelum beli tiket kita dah bagitau ye movie ni untuk penonton umur 18 atau keatas sahaja. #EvilDeadRise JANGAN BAWAK BUDAK MASUK GILA ?

Evil Dead Rise has NO cut scenes except for censorship near the end of the movie. This may be good news for fans of horror flicks who expect to see a full-fledged horror on the big screen, but it is truly NOT meant for those 18 and below.
As parents, it is your duty to make the wise decision.
