Sometimes people commit crimes in the middle of the night thinking they can get away with it, but they can’t escape trustworthy dogs who are always on the lookout for any strange happenings around them.
According to NST, three men at Sungai Lokan, Penang, tried to steal cattle from a pen on 30th May at 4am. It is believed that they used a blow pipe to sedate the cattle with a dart, after which they successfully loaded the animal into the car and tried to drive away.
However, their attempt at stealth ultimately proved to be unsuccessful when the owner of the cattle pen was alerted to what was happening when he heard dogs barking constantly. He immediately checked his CCTV, and seeing that someone was taking his Brahman cattle away, he chased after them.
Thinking they could still get away with it, the three suspects lost control of the car and crashed while attempting to escape, and having hurt themselves in the accident, they were soon detained and handed over to the police.
Seberang Perai Utara OCPD, Assistant Commissioner, Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the 52-year-old owner saw four suspects in two cars trying to steal his cattle.
“The suspects managed to upload one livestock into a Honda Civic, before they fled from the scene,” he said.
“All three suspects were sent to the Kepala Batas Hospital for treatment before they were remanded.”
While three of them were detained, the police are still conducting a search for the fourth suspect, who managed to flee the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft.
Dogs certainly are our protectors. They are always there for us when we need it the most. Serves the suspects right for trying to steal the animal!
