What does it take to be a real influencer or to be famous on social media? A TikTok from China recently expressed that, unfortunately, anyone who does something unbeneficial can find fame online overnight in Malaysia.
The TikToker, GiGi, was referring to Malaysian cross-dresser Bai En and Adeline, who found fame by wanting to change gender and dodging e-hailing fare, respectively. Bai En, who is well aware of what GiGi said, has since responded through a Facebook video, and he was not happy about it.
“I found fame way before the gender change issue”
In his video, Bai En told GiGi that he had been well-known before he expressed his desire to undergo gender change surgery in Bangkok.
“Wake up and do your homework. Everytime I went out before the issue, everyone already knew who I was. I already had millions of views on YouTube.”
Before this, there was a rumor that Bai En’s letter of confirmation for surgery was fake. In the video, he confirmed the authenticity of the letter by showing the surgeon’s signature.
“You think you’re good?”
Last but not least, Bai En expressed what he thought about the content creators from China – they’re not that good.
“One of you guys came to Malaysia and claimed KLCC was yours. That was so funny.”
Bai En also highlighted GiGi’s content’s views, which generally amassed around five figures. To Bai En, that is low.
“You’re borrowing my fame and issue to boost yourself,” Bai En said.
Adeline, on the other hand, has not responded to GiGi’s claims. This reminds us of Khairul Aming, a Malaysian celebrity chef who used to tell Malaysians what it really means to be an influential content creator, who brings positivity.
