Viral videos are currently circulating online, showing an elderly man being harassed by a group of men, which allegedly took place after the elderly man scolded a woman for double-parking and blocking him in.
The KL Online Facebook page shared several videos of the incident, which took place in Batu Pahat, Johor.

The elderly man was harassed by a group of men
In the first video, the elderly man could be seen looking inside a double-parked Mini Cooper before heading to his Mercedes-Benz and honking his horn.
Soon, a woman appeared, and the two had a quick interaction before the woman could be seen making a phone call while moving her vehicle. As she moved her car, the elderly man drove away.
In subsequent videos, the elderly man could be seen surrounded and being confronted by a group of men, while the woman who had double-parked her car earlier stood next to them. It is also believed that one of the men confronting the elderly man is the woman’s husband.

During the confrontation, the woman said that she had apologised to the elderly man in their initial interaction and felt scared for her safety due to the elderly man’s anger. The elderly man, on the other hand, said that he did not hear her apology as he had already entered his car, which prompted one of the men to ask him, “Are you deaf?”
The same man also asked the elderly man, “Do you know who I am?” while another man pushed the elderly man’s head. A third person also demanded that the elderly man apologise to their “boss“, to which the elderly man complied.
“Gangster intimidation”
Malaysians have since shared their belief that the woman should have just let the matter go following her first interaction with the elderly man, rather than calling on “thugs” to harass the man.

“Why did the lady double park like that? Just accept the scolding, why bring in thugs to act like gangsters when you’re wrong? The elderly driver could choose not to forgive you! Why should he forgive you after you wasted his time? Apologising is your duty, but whether or not to forgive is the victim’s prerogative.”

“A woman who seems afraid of a peaceful world, making a big deal out of small things. You violated traffic rules and still care about what others think when someone scolds you? Reflect on your behaviour. Your husband is even worse off. Did he really need to bring so many people to bully an elderly person? Do you think you’re so great? You’re truly shameful.”

“In Malaysia, Criminal Intimidation is mainly based on Section 503 (definition) and Section 506 (punishment) of the Penal Code. Generally, Criminal Intimidation can be punished with a maximum of 2 years in prison, a fine or both.”

The matter has been settled

According to a report by China Press, the Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani, explained that those involved in the incident were present at the Batu Pahat Police Station for a mediation session yesterday afternoon (21 January), where both parties reached an agreement to settle the matter.
He added that no further action was taken regarding this.
