Those living in Semenyih must have had the fright of their lives yesterday evening (March 17) as the popular hiking trail, Broga Hill, went up in flames.
Though, thankfully, firefighters from multiple stations assisted in putting out the massive fire.
The Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Semenyih Facebook page shared videos and details into the incident, which took place on Sunday, at 7:39pm.
They wrote, “Fire at the top of Broga Hill 1, the estimated area of the fire is 5 acres.”
In their posts, firefighters from Semenyih as well as Bangi, Ampang and Serdang could be seen being briefed about the fire before starting their efforts to put it out.
Personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Task Emergency Medical Services (TEMS) and the Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) were also present to help.
“Arriving at the location after making a size up, it was found that the forest fire on Broga Hill was burning quickly and the estimated area of the fire was 5 acres.”
“Members on duty put out the fire using fire extinguishers and also used the fire break method to ensure that the fire could be controlled, and then the fire was extinguished completely. To ensure that the situation at the location is safe, members on duty monitored the location to ensure that there were no more sources of fire,” they added.
Once they confirmed that the fire would not reignite, they packed up their equipment and called it a day.
We’re so thankful for the quick and effective response of our firefighters!
