Sometimes, it can be worrying to see what kind of information the public figures disseminate online. Regardless of what some may have said about making a boatload of money without academic qualifications, knowledge is, and always will be crucial part of life.
Just recently, a Malaysian TikToker that an academic degree is nothing but merely a tool for people to look for a job. In a viral TikTok clip, the TikToker, who is currently pursuing his undergraduate studies said that the degree has nothing to do with his life, and is not aligned with his life goals.
“I don’t want to work for anyone. A degree is not helping me at all.”
“My university is indebted to me, not the other way round!”
In the podcast, when asked about his take on a degree certificate as a tool of knowledge, the TikToker was quick to deny that.
“What do you mean knowledge? A degree is something that we buy. We can get knowledge someplace else.”
The man also claimed that his current place of study is indebted to him due to the ongoing “transaction.”
“My university is indebted to me, not the other way around. I give them money so that they can give me the degree certificate!”
Social media users expressed shock and anger at what the TikToker had to say about obtaining a degree certificate, with some showing concerns about how the younger generations may be influenced by what he said.
“With such a level, people would’ve chosen a bull to represent them instead of someone with a PhD.”
“Sometimes, silence is gold. Talking more will just show your stupidity.”
“With this level, people might just choose a door knob to represent them and not someone with a PhD.”
“He’s actually speaking logic, and his logic can be used on planet Mars.”
“Shallow minded.”
“This is the difference between someone with knowledge and someone without it. It saddens me.”
“And his followers listen to him. Anyone can speak today without any qualification.”
