Following the lack of compliance of Malaysians towards the RMCO and the worrying increase in daily Covid-19 cases in Malaysia from single to double digits, the government has decided to take action by re-tightening previously established SOPs.
Two days ago (25th July), Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, announced that he will clarify his decision as to whether interstate travel should continue today (27th July) in a live press conference. The SOPs for Hari Raya Haji celebrations will also be announced in conjunction with this announcement.

However, with the Hari Raya Haji weekend soon approaching, many are pondering as to whether they should make preparations to balik kampung and visit their families as the announcement of stricter SOPs could possibly mean the re-implementation of restrictions against interstate travelling.
In a Facebook post by Penang Kini, netizens took to the comment section to share their worries if interstate travel were to be imposed again:
One netizen shared, “It’s been seven months since I’ve returned home. I was hoping I could visit my parents during Hari Raya Haji. if I don’t make it across the border, things will be difficult.” Another netizen said, “If there are really restrictions against interstate travel, pity those who already planned to balik kampung. Have to be patient and persevere in times like this. Hopefully Covid-19 goes away soon.”
