In his live press conference today, Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that the number of cases in the 12th mukim (administrative divisions) in the southwestern region of Pulau Pinang has been worrying. As of 3 November, there were 30 positive Covid-19 cases recorded with an additional 11 new cases.

After discussing with the Ministry of Health, the National Security Council (MKN) has decided to enforced Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Bayan Lepas starting 6 November and is set to end on 19 November 2020.

The areas under the 12th administrative division are as follow:

  • Bayan Baru
  • Sungai Ara
  • Batu Maung
  • Desa Ria
  • Free Trade Zone 23
  • Free Trade Zone 24

This will make it easier for MOH to perform targeted testing in areas with a high frequency of cases. The SOPs for this area will be the same as the other areas under CMCO.

Some of these regulations include the limiting of two people to a single vehicle and allowing only select members of the household to go out and purchase essential items.

Stay tuned for more updates!
