Earlier this month, it was revealed that Dr Noor Hisham would retire on April 21 (last Friday), as it was his 60th birthday, marking the mandatory age for civil servants to retire.
Now, a new Health Director-General has been appointed.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, Datuk Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan has been appointed as the new Director General of Health effective last Friday, as announced by Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
The 58-year-old Dr Muhammad Radzi was previously the Deputy Director General of Health (Research and Technical Support).
His appointment is said to be based on his qualifications and extensive experience in the field of national health services. Dr Muhammad Radzi has served as the Head of the Medical Department at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Kedah, Chief Medical Coordinator of Kedah and Head of Kedah’s Clinical Research Center.
He was also the Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Services and was the chairman of the commissioning of those specialties from 2013 until 2021.
“I am confident that with his experience, knowledge and expertise as well as his credibility, he is able to give his best and be a team mate with me in ensuring that the national health reform goals and agenda are fully implemented,” shared Dr Zaliha.
