Popular Chinese actress and superstar Fan Bingbing has been making the headlines in Malaysia and globally recently after she was appointed the Tourism Ambassador for Visit Melaka 2024, a move that cost approximately RM500,000, with the huge bulk of it sponsored by private companies rather than the Melaka State Government.
The appointment has been touted as a huge success, with searches for ‘Melaka’ on WeChat in the de facto ubiquitous app in China skyrocketing to the millions.
The unexpected crossover between Fan Bingbing and Dato’ Seri Vida
While she’s in our country, Fan Bingbing took to her official Instagram account to share that she has met new Malaysian friends and created unforgettable memories.
However, 1 of the new friends and memories that stood out from the rest has got to be the unexpected crossover between Fan Bingbing with a Malaysian self-proclaimed ‘superstar’, Dato’ Seri Vida, more affectionately known as DSV!
In an adorable video, Fan Bingbing shared her meetup with DSV in which they tested out each others’ products.
If you recall from our previous story, DSV actually speaks fluent Mandarin thanks to her time being an English teacher at a local Chinese school, hence communicating with the Chinese superstar is no problem for the cosmetic brand founder.
At the start of the video, DSV explained the content of her popcorn food products, including the Caramel version to Fan Bingbing while the latter tasted it and proclaimed how delicious it was.
Afterwards, Fan Bingbing shared her beauty facial mask products with DSV who in turn explained their health benefits in Bahasa Melayu to the camera.
In the caption, Fan Bingbing wrote,
“Dato’ Seri Vida, pleased to know you! Your popcorn ? is so sedap! ? Hope you try my beauty mask too! ?”
