Some fancier restaurants tend to have a dress code for their customers in order to maintain the atmosphere of their premises.
But what happens when a customer doesn’t follow the dress code?
According to a report by China Press, a man and his father were barred from entering a famous revolving restaurant in Kuala Lumpur, after they had showed up in shorts. They were then given sarongs to wear should they want to proceed with their reservation.
The man had apparently bought vouchers amounting to more than RM1,000 to dine at the restaurant and brought his family there on Friday (June 30). However, he and his father were denied entry due to them wearing knee-length shorts and were given sarongs.
He then requested a refund but the request was turned down, forcing him and his father to don the sarongs without much of a choice.
Based on the restaurant’s website, they have a strict dress code where customers who do not adhere to it will allegedly be turned away.
“We request for proper attire to be worn as a mark of respect for the beautiful environment. Please be advised that management has the right to refuse entry if the attire standards are not met,” they wrote.
What do you think? Were the customers wrong for not adhering to the strict dress code or should the restaurant not have forced the customers to wear the sarongs?
