On 19 September, Soraya, a 20-year-old young woman posted a thread on Twitter (@shasxraya), sharing about her experience of being “hit-on” by a middle-aged man. From her tweet, she said that this encounter occurred at MYTOWN when an Indian man began bombarding her with loads of questions.
She described the creepy man that he looked like he’s in his 50s and his height at approximately 170cm. His has black hair with strands of white, as well as a moustache. He was also wearing a pair of glasses and smart work attire.

Soraya added that the man initially approached her to ask her where Starbucks was, she pointed to the direction since she saw the store not long ago. However, the man did not just end the conversation there and then. He began questioning Soraya even more by asking if she’s a student and where she studies at, as well as what her major is. His question took a weird turn when he told her:
“You seem like a smart girl, but not very confident.”
EXCUSE ME WTF.
He pressed her further with these following questions:
“Oh, you’re rushing?”
“To where?”
“Where do you stay?”
“Could I buy you a drink?”
“Are you sure?”
“What’s your name?”
Weirded out by this creepy uncle’s questions, Soraya stood up for herself by telling him that she felt uncomfortable and that it was inappropriate of him. He responded with,
“We’re all strangers in this world and should be brave to talk.”

He also reminded her that she should be braver to talk to strangers. While he walked off, he gave Soraya a smug on his face and then glaring back at her multiple times.
We thought this was the end of the story until we saw netizens replying to her tweet, telling her that they’ve encountered the same man at that mall before. Some of them even claimed that he used to be a university lecturer! After receiving responses from netizens, Soraya further confirmed that the man told her he’s a lecturer.

Yikes. We don’t know if he’s really a lecturer, or he only claims to be one. Whether if it’s true or not, we should be extra careful while we’re out and about!
