Goin to fun fairs in Malaysia have always been a risky choice, with many having gotten injured in the past due to ride malfunctions and safety protocols not being followed.

And now, unfortunately, more people have gotten hurt.

According to a post by BFM News, a couple’s night out in Sabah turned into a nightmare when they were thrown out of a ride at a fun fair.

They wrote, “A couple riding the ‘Octopus Ride’ at a fun fair suffered injuries when they were thrown off the ride near the Likas Sports Complex. The incident occurred around 8pm yesterday when the man and woman fell from the ride while it was still in motion.”

“The incident was caught on camera by several fun fair visitors and has since gone viral on social media platforms. Firemen arrived at the scene minutes later and provided first aid to the injured victims before they were taken to a Hospital for further treatment.”

In the video showcased, the spinning ‘Octopus Ride’ could be seen in motion when one of the carriages appears to hit the railing separating the crowd from the ride. Upon impact, the couple inside were flung out of the carriage.

We genuinely hope that they’re okay and have a speedy recovery.

This isn’t the first time this has happened!

Back in December 2022, 3 people including a child were injured after they were thrown out of a similar ride, a ‘Squid Ride’, at an unlicensed Puncak Alam fun fair.

Prior to that, the fun fair was allegedly raided by the police and a seizure was carried out due to there being no permit for the fun fair to operate. Despite the seizures, the fun fair operator stubbornly continues operations, leading to the incident.
