In an update disappointing many Malaysians right now, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) in his RM1 million corruption trial following the prosecution not proceeding with the case due to “new developments.”
High Court Judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali granted the discharge after Deputy Public Prosecutor Julia Ibrahim told the court that she had received instructions from the Attorney General’s Chambers to seek the DNAA following developments that warrant further investigation, reported Bernama.
On 15 November 2018, Tengku Adnan pleaded not guilty to the charge of receiving a bribe of RM1 million from Datuk Tan Eng Boon through a Public Bank check belonging to Pekan Nenas Industries Sdn Bhd which was deposited into the CIMB Bank account belonging to Tengku Adnan .
Netizens shared their disappointment over this issue and while they’re angered over the breach of justice, they aren’t really surprised at this point.
“As expected! If it continues like this, Malaysia will never progress. Bribery is one thing, but what’s the difference when corrupt politicians become leaders?”
“As long as this country is not free from corruptions, it will never prosper. It will be difficult for the just to rise while the corrupted continue to rise.”
