The weather these days has been really unpredictable as it can go from hot and humid to raging thunderstorms in mere seconds.

Be it as it may, it is also not very sustainable to keep the A/C on when it is sweltering hot as it can drive up our electricity bills high up.

Currently, as it is summer in Japan, a Japanese netizen named “HirokoujiKanpo” has shared a hack to cool down a room without turning on the air conditioner by only using two water bottles and we think it works!

Here are the steps:

  1. Fill up 2 plastic bottles to 3 quarters full.
  2. Put them into the freezer, and wait until they are frozen solid.
  3. When it gets hot, take the bottles out and put them in an metal bucket and into your room.

With this, the room will be less humid and cooler, claims the Japanese netizen.

According to “HirokoujiKanpo”, who is a pharmacist, this is the process of “dehumidification” where the moisture in the room will naturally condense into water droplets due to contact with the cold surface of the water bottle.

The pharmacist also reminds netizens not to fill the bottle with too much water, if not, the frozen liquid will damage the bottle.

Some netizens who have tried it say it works well in a small room, and that their room has become noticeably cooler.

Well, this certainly sounds like something interesting to try. The best thing is that you don’t need to incur extra charges as it only uses plastic bottles and items you already have in your house! Will you try this hack? Let us know in the comments!
