During this Movement Control Order, everyone is required to stay at home which results in people not being able to go out and work to earn money. For this reason, many people have been struggling to feed their families.
A very compassionate chicken supplying company in Johor realised this problem and felt like they needed to do something to lessen the burden of the people located near them!
On 29th March, the Non-Executive Director, Badrul (@_badrool) of Ayam Norliza has posted a thread on Twitter about how they gave out 1000 free chickens to their staff and also the villagers near their factory.
The company felt like they should really give back to the Pontian community where their factory is situated as they believe that the economic climate is not that good now. He continued on and said,
“We’re not celebrities or wealthy people, we are just sympathetic chicken sellers.”
He also said that they will be giving out the chicken to people that are staying nearby the factory with no discrimination and hopes that it will lighten the burden of the people there.
Upon further enquiries, Badrul told WORLD OF BUZZ that he is actually the son of the founders of the company! The company was named after his mother, Norliza in 1997. It is said that the chickens are best sellers in Johor as they have halal tags on the chicken wings and they have proved themselves to be trustworthy by being JAKIM-certified.
Other than being the Non-Executive Director of his mother’s company, Badrul is also a fourth-year medical student in UITM. When asked about the cost of their generous donation, Badrul told us that it set them back about RM15k for 1,000 chickens. He also revealed that due to the MCO, business has been slow but they were still very willing to help the people in their community.
Giving back to the community is definitely a very good thing and Badrul hopes that through this effort, people will start helping the needy in their own respective communities! He also says,
“Please take care of yourselves during this MCO and don’t forget to support your local businesses!”
There you have it! Don’t forget to stay safe and stay at home!
