A man in Nanjing, China, managed to deceive others into having sex with him. The shocking part, however, is that he had been pretending to be a woman and reportedly had sexual encounters with over 1,600 men.
The case recently went viral online after Chinese police uncovered the fraud and revealed the identity of the 28-year-old man. He had been using an alter ego named “Sister Red”—real name Jiao, and often appeared online wearing a wig and makeup.

To deceive his male victims, he would use a voice filter when speaking to them online, before initiating a sexual relationship.
When they met in person, Sister Red would record the sexual encounter, which was then sold online. Multiple reports from Chinese media stated that although some men realised Sister Red was actually a man upon arrival, they still went through with the act, driven by the mentality of “I’m all in.”
Based on the circulated videos, Sister Red managed to attract many loyal customers who returned to him multiple times. The viral footage unexpectedly opened the door for others to identify cheating spouses or recognise Sister Red’s victims as married men.

Nanjing police confirmed that, to date, a total of 1,691 men had fallen victim to Sister Red and engaged in sexual activity with him.
According to a report by China Press, many of these men were later diagnosed with HIV following their encounters with Sister Red. However, the exact number of infected individuals was not disclosed.
Police arrested Sister Red on July 5 and placed him under criminal detention the following day on suspicion of disseminating obscene materials. The local health department stated that authorities would take measures to identify others who may have been infected and encouraged concerned individuals to come forward for testing.

Police also reminded the public that, under Chinese law, if a person knowingly carries HIV or other sexually transmitted diseases and deliberately engages in unprotected sex with multiple individuals, creating a risk of widespread transmission without yet causing serious consequences, they may face a fixed-term imprisonment of no less than three years and up to ten years.
