China has gone from being the Covid-19 place of origin, the first country to be locked down due to the virus, to becoming one of the biggest comeback stories by completely curbing the coronavirus spread and allowing its people to return to their normal lives.
But unfortunately, 78 new cases in their country have been reported, reminding us all that it’s better to be safe than to be sorry and extend Movement Control Orders, and lock downs as rumours of a second wave ring.
As according to Channel News Asia, a vast majority of the 78 new cases reported on the 24th of March did not originate from China and were allegedly brought in from overseas. The first new case apparently was noted in Wuhan, while three other cases are also local. 74 of the other new infections have been brought in from overseas.
7 other patients, all in Wuhan, have died, as according to their National Health Commission.
Beijing, now growing anxious as it had appeared to be bringing the country’s outbreak under control, has diverted all Chinese capital-bound flights to other cities, where passengers will be screened for the virus.
The Global Times have also warned that ‘inadequate quarantine measures’ meant that a second wave of infections would be ‘highly likely, even inevitable’.
Let’s hope that China pulls through considering the amazing improvements that had previously occurred.
