KUALA LUMPUR, May 5, 2015:

A memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed today by AirAsia Bhd with 20 Malaysian public universities – opening a wider entry to its “Waran Perjalanan Udara Awam” (WPUA) service which initially only caters to civil servants.

With the newly signed agreement, an array of perks can be enjoyed under the warrant such as cheaper flights, in-flight meals, seat selection, flexible bookings, zero cost flight change (for maximum of 2 flights), baggage allocation of up to 40kg and zero service counter fees. Students who travel under the WPUA service will also be covered by the complimentary Tune Insurance Air Asia Travel Protection plan..

Students who plan to go for trips under this programme would have to seek for specially appointed travel agents (who are part of the WPUA programme) to manage the booking and facilitation of the flight tickets.

According to AirAsia’s CEO, Aireen Omar, “AirAsia has the widest domestic network, connecting not just both Peninsular and East Malaysia, but also intra-East Malaysia; easing travel plans for students and staff of the public universities.”

Omar said that AirAsia’s wide destination network across 20 countries will grant all of the students better opportunity to travel more as well.

The 20 local public universities which are involved in this programme are:

1. Universiti Malaya (UM)

2. Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
