Previously, we shared how the automatic glass platform doors at an undisclosed monorail station in Kuala Lumpur were finally working after allegedly 10 years, leaving many Malaysians amused, especially those who didn’t even notice there were glass doors on monorail station platforms.
Since then, Rapid KL, which operates the Monorail line via its subsidiary Rapid Rail, took to its official Facebook page to announce that the automatic platform doors are now finally operational at six Monorail stations, namely KL Sentral, Tun Sambanthan, Maharajalela, Hang Tuah, Imbi, and Bukit Bintang, as of 29 November 2024.
Automatic Platform Gates at Bukit Bintang Monorail Station malfunctioned just 2 days after finally becoming operational
However, it seems that the automatic glass platform gates’ operational status didn’t last long, well, at least at one station. Just two days after the above announcement, Rapid KL revealed that the gates had malfunctioned at the Bukit Bintang Monorail Station.
In another Facebook post yesterday (1 December), Rapid KL provided an update on the Monorail line, asserting that the automatic platform gates at Platform 2 of the Bukit Bintang Monorail Station were experiencing a disruption and were operating manually.
Furthermore, Rapid KL said that technical personnel were dispatched on-site to conduct maintenance work, and accordingly, as a precaution, trains had to stop for a longer duration at the station platform.
Rapid KL advised commuters to take safety precautions and to follow the instructions of the staff on duty at the platform. Moreover, the rail operator also apologised for any inconvenience caused and appreciated users’ patience during the whole ordeal.
So, what do you guys think about the automatic glass platform gates at Bukit Bintang Monorail Station malfunctioning just 2 days after Rapid KL announced that they were finally operational?
