The government just announced that the Back-to-school Aid (Bantuan Awal Persekolahan or BAP) will be increased from RM100 to RM150.

The assistance will be given to all Year 1 to Form 5 students regardless of household income.

“This means that if a family has 3 schooling children, then they are eligible to receive RM450 worth of aid,” said Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz at the tabling of Budget 2023.

He added that the aid will be distributed in January 2023 and can hopefully ease the burden of parents in supporting their schooling children.

The BAP has been allocated RM825 million for 2023, a lot more than this year’s provision of RM450 million.

He emphasizes that Budget 2023 will see the Ministry of Education receive the largest allocation it has ever received, that is RM55.6 billion compared to this year’s RM52.6 billion.

Stay tuned for more of Budget 2023!
