It’s no secret that the weather in Malaysia can get a little unpredictable, sometimes it’s so hot you can melt, while other times it just pours.
What’s more unpredictable are cats, and their need to find warmth when the weather gets wet and cold, which is why sometimes they’ll crawl up into car engines.
The Fire & Rescue Department of Malaysia took to their Facebook page to showcase a rescue mission of a little kitten stuck in the engine of a car in Subang on 25 October (Sunday).
They wrote, “A special service to save a cat at Jalan SS15/6A, Subang Jaya. A kitten was found in the engine of a car and the firefighters successfully saved and removed the kitten from the car engine.”
Considering it’s been raining on and off for the past couple of weeks, it is important that everyone check under your car hoods and inside tyres to ensure that there are no cats seeking refuge around or inside your cars.
As according to Catster, one way to warn cats (that may be hiding under your hood) that you’re about to use your car is by lightly honking the horn or by slapping the hood.
PicknBuy24 also shared that checking for signs of animal presence can also determine if there might be a cat sleeping somewhere around your car. These signs could include paw prints on the hood and windshield and fur around the ground.
This is important (especially if you’re staying in a residential area with loads of strays around) because, well, nobody wants to accidentally kill an innocent animal.
Kudos to the abang-abang bomba for rescuing the little kitten.
