18-year-old Tan Boon Chin went missing in Pontian, Johor, last week, and he was last seen on April 28 after he left home around 8:30 AM. The family also lodged a police report after he did not return home.
Unfortunately, PDRM confirmed that Tan was found dead in the waters near Pulau Pisang by the fishermen.

In an official statement by the Pontian Chief Police last night (May 4), Mohammad Shofee said that when the marine retrieved Tan’s body, the corpse had started to decompose, and PDRM believed that Tan’s body had been in the waters for more than three days.
Shofee also said Tan’s family members had identified the body based on the skin colour and the outfit that Tan wore when he left home. Kosmo reported that Tan’s mother broke down in tears when identifying her son’s body.
“Why didn’t you tell me if something was wrong? Why did you treat me like this?”
The body had been sent to the hospital for post-mortem, which also revealed “asphyxiation secondary to drowning” as the cause of death. PDRM also confirmed that there was no foul play in the case, and the matter has been classified as sudden death.

On the same night, one of Tan’s family members also posted on social media and thanked the public and the police for their efforts to search for Tan.
“Tan has been found, and he’s now a little angel.”
PDRM also urged the public to contact the police if they have relevant information about the case.
