A man’s corpse was found inside a water storage tank of a fishing rig at Pulau Pangkor yesterday (February 4).
The discovery of the body was made by the public who was looking for the source of the foul odour. In an official statement by PDRM in Manjung district, the police said they received a report regarding the matter yesterday around 3:15 PM.
Initial investigations revealed that the man was lying face down inside the water storage tank.

“A medical assistant from the Pangkor Health Clinic examined the victim and confirmed that the victim had died. The body was then taken to the Forensic Unit of Seri Manjung Hospital for a post-mortem.”
In a report by Malaysian Gazette, Manjung District Chief Police, Assistant Commissioner Hasbullah Bin Abd Rahman said the deceased is a 51-year-old man and was not employed before his death.

Hasbullah said the body was found by one of the workers at the rig who wanted to turn on the main pipe before smelling a foul odour coming from the water storage tank.
“The corpse had also started to bloat and decompose,” Hasbullah added.
The cause and time of death, however, are still being investigated.
PDRM also urged the public who have relevant information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
